A firm built around the work most accountants hand off
Most business owners end up with a patchwork — a bookkeeper here, a tax preparer there, and, for anyone with ties to two countries, a second accountant who never speaks to the first. Fairlight was built the other way around: one practice that owns the whole picture — your books, your returns, payroll, and the bigger financial decisions — with cross-border work at the center rather than as an afterthought.
Fairlight is led by its founder, who brings more than fifteen years in senior finance and hands-on experience across both U.S. and Canadian tax. The firm grew out of a simple observation: the clients who needed the most coordination — people and businesses living between two tax systems — were getting the least of it, stitched together across offices that never compared notes. The cross-border desk is the practice this firm was built around.
Our mission
To give business owners and cross-border families a clear, current picture of their finances — and one team accountable for all of it — so the numbers support decisions instead of creating surprises.
One firm, the whole picture

Why clients work with us
- One firm, the whole picture — books, tax, payroll, and advisory under one roof, where the pieces already talk to each other.
- Both sides of the border — CPA credentials on the team in both the United States and Canada, so two returns are treated as one job.
- Clear scope and pricing — what you’ll pay is quoted before any work begins, never an hourly surprise.
- Proactive, not just at tax time — current books and someone watching what’s ahead, not only what already happened.
- A real person who knows your file — you work with the people doing the work, not a ticket queue.
- Built for the in-between cases — moves between countries, snowbirds, foreign accounts, and the reporting that comes with them.
Who we help
- Owner-run businesses that have outgrown DIY bookkeeping or an unreliable freelancer
- Companies that need payroll and compliance handled without second-guessing
- U.S.–Canada families and businesses with returns on both sides of the border
- Owners who want financial insight to make decisions with, not just compliance
Credentials you can rely on
- CPA credentials in both the United States and Canada, held on the team
- Fifteen-plus years of senior finance experience leading the firm
- Experience across bookkeeping, business and personal tax, payroll, cross-border filing, and CFO-level advisory
- A specialty lane — U.S.–Canada cross-border — that few firms run under one roof
Most accountants go quiet after April
The usual way
- A bookkeeper in one place, a tax preparer in another — and they never compare notes
- Someone who surfaces at tax time, then goes quiet for the rest of the year
- A U.S. accountant and a Canadian one, filing the same family twice
- Big-picture advice from no one
Four bills, four logins, and the gaps cost you — in missed deductions and year-end surprises.
Fairlight
- Books, tax, and payroll — one system
- U.S. and Canada — both sides, one firm
- Cross-border treated as one job, not two
- Advice that already sees the tax
One team, one bill, nothing falling through the gaps.
Our promise
Work with Fairlight and you get more than a bookkeeper or a tax preparer. You get a financial partner who understands the whole picture, explains it in plain English, and is accountable for getting it right.
How we work, in writing
Every engagement is put in writing: a fixed price quoted before any work starts, a reply within one business day, and one firm accountable for all of it — not promises posted on a page.
- Accountable, in writing — The judgment calls are made, and your return is reviewed and signed, by a CPA on our team. You always know who owns your work, today and as the team grows.
- Fixed price, quoted first — You see the number before any work begins. No hourly meter and no surprise invoices, on any service.
- Fully remote, secure — All 50 states and across Canada, through an encrypted client portal. Where you’re based doesn’t change the service.
- We answer, and we stay — A reply within one business day, year-round. You’ll never wonder whether your accountant has quietly gone dark on you.

About the firm, up front
Who actually does my work?
Your books, your return, and the bigger decisions are handled by Fairlight’s team, and your return is reviewed and signed by a CPA on the team. Nothing is handed to a seasonal preparer or an offshore data-entry pool.
Can you really handle both U.S. and Canadian taxes?
Yes. The team holds CPA credentials in both the United States and Canada, so both sides of a cross-border return are handled under one roof instead of across two firms that never compare notes.
Where are you based, and does it matter where I am?
We’re in South Florida, and no — we work remotely across all 50 states and Canada through a secure client portal, so where you’re based doesn’t change the service.
What kinds of clients do you work with?
Owner-run businesses across many industries — plus personal and cross-border family taxes. If you have revenue, payroll, or a tax return, we can run it.
Is my financial data secure?
Everything moves through an encrypted client portal, not email attachments, and access is limited to your team.
How do I switch from my current accountant or bookkeeper?
We handle the move: we request your prior books and returns, reconcile what’s there, and pick up the next cycle — usually with no gap in coverage.
